About me

Marilyn Waite has worked across four continents in venture capital, ESG investment, and low-carbon energy. She serves as Managing Director of the Climate Finance Fund, a philanthropic fund. From 2018 until 2021, Marilyn led the Climate and Clean Energy Finance portfolio for the Hewlett Foundation, creating and implementing a $125M investment strategy across China, Europe and the United States. Marilyn previously led the clean energy practice at Village Capital, modeled and forecasted energy solutions to climate change as Senior Research Fellow at Project Drawdown, and managed several operational and innovation projects at Orano and Framatome (formerly AREVA).

A multilingual communicator, Marilyn served as co-host of the China Cleantech podcast, editor-at-large for GreenBiz, and is author of Sustainability at Work: careers that make a difference. Marilyn holds a Master’s Degree with distinction in Engineering for Sustainable Development from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering, magna cum laude, from Princeton University. She complements this with finance and investment certifications and training, including Securities Industry Essentials and Series 65. Marilyn serves on a number of boards and investment committees.
